Intensives for Cycle Breakers
Virtual Therapy Across California
What is an EMDR Intensive?
You can lead a high-stakes meeting without breaking a sweat. But one text from your mom and suddenly your whole body is on high alert.
Weekly therapy helps, but 50 minutes can end right when things are getting real. An intensive gives you a longer, focused block of up to two hours, so we have room to prepare, reprocess, and land gently without watching the clock.
-
Two hours gives us time to settle in, go deeper, and close down properly, instead of stopping mid-process because the hour is up.
-
No need to clear a whole day or book months of weekly appointments. Choose a single session or a short series that fits your work and family schedule.
-
Every intensive targets the patterns that came from growing up with emotionally immature family: the people pleasing, the guilt, the dread, the way you shrink back into old roles.
-
Each intensive ends with grounding and closure, so you leave steady enough to pick up your kids, answer emails, or simply rest.
How It Works
Consultation
A free 15-minute call to talk through what you're hoping for and which intensive fits.
Your Intensive
Up to two focused hours of EMDR on the memories and triggers that keep pulling you back into old patterns.
Intake & Readiness
A free 15-minute call to talk through what you're hoping for and which intensive fits.
Next Steps
We check in on what shifted and decide together: complete, another intensive, or an EMDR series.
Holiday Survival Intensive
A dress rehearsal for your nervous system before you walk into the family gathering, with an optional session afterward to process whatever got stirred up.
$450 · pre-visit session (2 hrs)
$875 · pre + post bundle
The Boundary Decision Intensive
For when you can't decide whether to stay close, keep your distance, or step away from a parent. We untangle what you want from what guilt is telling you, then use EMDR on the fear and obligation keeping you stuck.
$525 · single 2-hour intensive
Breaking the Cycle for Your Kids
For parents who catch themselves snapping, shutting down, or people pleasing in ways that sound a lot like their own parent. We trace it back to the source so it stops getting passed down.
$500 · single 2-hour intensive
$1,400 · 3-part series
Prefer steady, ongoing work? Ask about the 6 and 10-session EMDR Series.
Is an Intensive Right for You?
Not the right first step if you're in an active crisis or need more stabilization first. We'll talk through options that offer a steadier pace.
Cycle breakers who've built a different life but still feel pulled back into old family roles
Busy parents who can't fit weekly therapy right now but want real change
Adults from close-knit or collectivist families weighing family loyalty against their own wellbeing
Talk therapy veterans who know their story inside and out, but still feel it in their body
High-achievers who understand their patterns but still react before they can stop themselves
I Get It. Family Is Complicated.
Hi, I'm Jenna. I know what it's like to love your family and still need space from them. To rehearse the boundary in the car, then watch it disappear the second you walk in the door. To be the one who sees the pattern and wonders why it still has such a hold on you.
I haven't just studied this from the therapist's chair. I've been on the other side of it more times than I can count. That's why I don't hand out "just cut them off" or "just let it go" advice. Real life is messier than that, especially when culture, guilt, and decades of history are all at the table.
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #140347) and EMDR-trained clinician, I help cycle breakers stop reacting from old wounds and start choosing what's right for them, whether that's staying close, stepping back, or something in between.
Virtual throughout California. Join from home, your office, or your parked car during school pickup. I'm based in Orange County and work with clients across the state.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Not for most people who are a good fit. Two hours isn't two straight hours of reprocessing. We start by settling in and resourcing, do focused EMDR in the middle, and always leave time to close down so you leave steady. If we find you need a gentler pace, we'll adjust together.
-
No. New clients start with a free consultation and then a 50-minute intake, where we review your history, build calming tools, and make sure an intensive is a safe and supportive fit. Current and past clients can usually skip straight to booking.
-
Yes. Many clients keep working with their weekly therapist and add an intensive for focused EMDR. With your permission, I'm happy to coordinate with your therapist so the work supports what you're already doing together. You don't have to choose one or the other.

Intensives are private pay. I hold a limited number of insurance slots for weekly therapy, and sliding scale spots are limited as well.

You can’t control what they say. But you can change what happens in your body.
